Tulips and Flutterbys

I've been so busy with school work this week that I keep running out of time to finish the painting that I finally completed in the studio last weekend. It's similar in style to my Whimsical Birds and Flowers painting that I did a couple of weeks ago. I am really enjoying the techniques I learned from the fabulous Brandi Dayton that I've used in these last couple of paintings! This one I'm just calling Tulips and Flutterbys. :)

Tulips and Flutterbys

Apparently I'm in the mood for Spring, no? I love tulips. I used to have so many of them in my yard. I need to plant some more. But I digress. This is a mixed media painting. I used acrylics, colored pencils, Neocolor II crayons, paint markers, and some ink to stencil the swirly in the background. I love how the little butterflies turned out--again, just a little touch of fun and whimsy.

I think I need to hang this in my kitchen so that something warm and cheery always greets me there in the morning. I may need to hang my other flower painting in this style in the kitchen too!
