Painted Michael Jackson Turned Digital Art

Sometimes I like to paint...and sometimes I like to turn my paintings into digital art. That's how I was feeling today as I was going through some photos of my artwork. This one is classic Michael Jackson.

Painted MJ Turned Digital Art

Smooth Criminal is one of my all time favorite MJ songs. MJ has appeared in several artworks I've created over the years. It's fun to revisit past works and see what I can do to make them new and unique. I really love how this one turned out.

MJ Forever!

MJ Dangerous Digital Art

I was in the mood for some Michael Jackson digital art today. And since Dangerous is one of my favorite MJ songs, this is inspired by that song and MJ's awesome performances of Dangerous.

What is *your* favorite MJ song? I also love Thriller, Blood on the Dance Floor, Billie Jean, and You Rock My World (just to name a few!).

Michael Jackson Red Paint

I felt like creating some Michael Jackson digital art today. So, when the muse strikes, I follow it. And today I also felt like going very, very red. So this is what you get when you get "Michael Jackson in red" stuck in your head!

Now I think I feel the need to turn on some Bad era Michael Jackson tunes on and get my groove on. Just Blame it on the Boogie, if you must.

Man in the Mirror

I came across a blog I hadn't seen before that does digital art challenges each week. The blog is called Digital Whisper. This week's challenge theme is "Sheet Music," so I thought I'd jump in and participate. And my favorite musical muse is almost always Michael Jackson, so he inspired this digital art work. And the sheet music I used is from MJ's Man in the Mirror.

Man in the Mirror

I don't seem to do as much digital art as I once did. So I love when I get inspired by a great theme or challenge to make some more. :)  You can see more great digital art from this challenge by clicking on the the blog link above.

Michael Jackson Angel - 5 Years Gone

June 25 marks the 5 year anniversary of the death of Michael Jackson, the King of Pop. So I've created this Michael Jackson Art in tribute to my musical icon.

Michael Jackson Angel

What moves through us is a silence, a quiet sadness, a longing for one more day, one more word, one more smile, one more song. We may not understand why you had to leave this earth five years ago, or why you left before we were ready to say goodbye; but little by little, we begin to remember not just that you died, but that you lived. And that your life gave us memories far too beautiful to forget. You were gone too soon, but you will live on in our hearts forever, Michael.

A Star Can Never Die

It's no secret that I'm a Michael Jackson fan. So whenever I get the chance to put Michael in my art, whether it's in digital form, or a painting, or in my Art Journals, I jump at it. This week's prompt for The Documented Life gave me that chance. The prompt was "Monochromatic." Well, I've painted Michael twice in a monochromatic color scheme, so I decided to use a photo of one of those paintings as my starting point. This was the result.

Michael Jackson Star Can Never Die Art Journal page

Once I got the photo printed out, I sealed it with some Judikins Microglaze. I use that on almost every image that I print out to protect it. Then I embellished the photo just a bit. And then I created the companion page, using Inktense blocks and an Uni Posca paint pen, with one of Michael's quotes that I love. What can I say, I love knowing that Michael's face is in my art journal!

If you'd like to see the original oil painting of Michael, just click on the link below:

And the quote reads, "A star can never die; it just turns into a smile and melts back into the cosmic music, the dance of life."

Song Bird

This week's prompt at The Documented Life challenge was to use a bird on our journal page. I decided to use it both literally and figuratively--using Michael Jackson as my Song Bird, and adding a little bird at the end of a quote.

Song Bird Art Journal Page

The quote is from a Stephen King book:

“Some birds are not meant to be caged, that's all. Their feathers are too bright, their songs too sweet and wild. So you let them go, or when you open the cage to feed them they somehow fly out past you. And the part of you that knows it was wrong to imprison them in the first place rejoices, but still, the place where you live is that much more drab and empty for their departure.”

The first time I ever read that quote, it immediately made me think of Michael. He was our Song Bird, of course, but in many ways he was also in a gilded cage, imprisoned by his fame. And though he loved his fans, he really couldn't be truly free as the rest of us are. His true freedom, sadly, only came in death. And our world is truly more drab and empty for his departure.

Art Journals Smile and Character

Over the weekend I was able to complete my entries for weeks 3 & 4 in the Journal52 weekly art journal workshop. The prompts were: You Make Me Smile, and a Character. Below are my journal pages.

This is my Smile Flower Fairy, who happens to be my mom when she was little. Photos and memories are all I have left of my mom now, so I love using photos of my mom in my art when I can.

Smile Flower Fairy Art Journal

This is my Character, Michael Jackson, as the Smooth Criminal character from Moonwalker. It's one of my favorite MJ short films, and I love his character in it. It's epic and iconic MJ at his finest. So that was an easy choice for this journal page.

I did work some more on my Floral Beauty mixed media painting, but she is giving me fits. I don't like her hair at all, so I may have to re-work it. We'll see how it goes when I meet her again in my studio. No photos of her until I actually like what I'm seeing! :)

Step Into It MJ Art

I haven't done a Three Muses blog challenge for a bit, so I thought I'd join in this week's challenge, the theme of which is Music. As always, when I think of music, I think of Michael Jackson. So my digital art creation was inspired by the King of Pop.

Step Into It Michael Jackson Art

"People ask me how I make music. I tell them I just step into it. It’s like stepping into a river and joining the flow. Every moment in the river has its song. So I stay in the moment and listen. What I hear is never the same. A walk through the woods brings a light, crackling song: Leaves rustle in the wind, birds chatter and squirrels scold, twigs crunch underfoot and the beat of my heart holds it all together. When you join the flow, the music is inside and outside, and both are the same. As long as I can listen to the moment, I’ll always have music."

Dirty Diana Spotlight Digital Art

I was thinking about Michael Jackson this week, what with the Civil Trial against AEG in relation to Michael's death. But instead of focusing too much on that, I decided to focus on on Michaels' magic instead. So I created this Dirty Diana Spotlight digital art.

Dirty Diana Spotlight Michael Jackson Art

Michael's music and magic live on, and I love using it to inspire my Michael Jackson Art.

A Star Can Never Die

I created this digital piece of Michael Jackson Art for this week's creative challenge at the Three Muses blog, the theme of which is Music.

Star Can Never Die Michael Jackson Art

What can I say? If a challenge theme is Music, my head and my heart immediately go to Michael Jackson.

“A star can never die.
It just turns into a smile and melts back into the cosmic music,
the dance of life.”

― Michael Jackson, Dancing the Dream

Michael Jackson Eyes

The Three Muses blog has a challenge this week called Eyes. So I used my favorite muse to create this Michael Jackson digital art for that challenge.

Consciousness expresses itself through creation. This world we live in is the dance of the creator. Dancers come and go in the twinkling of an eye but the dance lives on.

Michael Jackson Digital Art Pieces

I haven't posted any Michael Jackson Art for awhile, so I thought I'd share these Digital Art pieces I've created in the last week. Digital art is one of my passions, and I do it a lot during the week when I can't get in my studio. I mostly post it on my Michael Jackson Tumblr blog, but every once in awhile I do something I think is worth sharing here as well--because I know at least a few of my followers love MJ as much as I do.

Dirty Diana Michael Jackson Art

This piece is from Michael's Bad era short film, Dirty Diana. Such an epic MJ pose.

Smooth Criminal MJ Heaven Digital Art

This image of Michael is from Moonwalker, from which was created the epic Smooth Criminal Short film. The digital art I created was meant to be as if Michael is looking down from Heaven--and him amongst the stars...where he belongs.

King of Music Digital Art

This week's creative challenge theme at the Three Muses blog is MUSIC. So, of course, my music muse is always Michael Jackson--the King of Pop and the King of Music!

An epic moment from the Black or White short film...with a little digital magic thrown in.

MJ In the Closet Duo

I wanted to share two pieces of digital art I created in tribute to Michael Jackson's short film and song, In the Closet. It's one of my favorites of his songs, and these are two of my favorite creations of Michael Jackson Art to date.

MJ In the Closet Digital Art

I really love MJ's look in this short film. I also really love the texture and color I was able to add to my digital art creations. I think the top one is my favorite. I think Michael is my favorite muse for creating digital art...with anything fairy related coming in a close second (or maybe a tie for first).

Man In the Mirror MJ Digital Art

Time for another challenge over at the Collage Obsession blog. The theme this week is "Man." We need to have "man" as our theme, or use the word, "man." So I decided to create some  Michael Jackson Art that went with that theme. And I came up with my Man In the Mirror digital art.

Man in the Mirror Michael Jackson Art

This photo is the work of one of my favorite photographers, Annie Leibovitz. She takes amazing photographs and I continue to be awed by her talent. She photographed Michael more than once, and the images (including this one, I believe) appeared in Vanity Fair magazine. And since Michael recorded the song, Man In the Mirror, I thought this photograph was the perfect subject for my digital collage. It is as much an homage to Annie as it is to Michael. It also includes sheet music from the actual song as prat of the design. I hope you like it.

A willow deeply scarred
Somebody's broken heart
And a washed out dream
(Washed out dream)
They follow the pattern of the wind ya' see
'Cause they got no place to be
That's why I'm starting with me.

I'm starting with the man in the mirror
I'm asking him to change his ways
And no message could have been any clearer
If you wanna make the world a better place
Take a look at yourself and then make a change...

Michael Jackson Oil Painting

I'm revisiting this Oil Painting of Michael Jackson because it's another piece of my art that I've put in my Fine Art America gallery. :)

MJ in Shades Michael Jackson Art

This was my first ever oil painting of MJ. I've painted him more than once, but this is still my favorite painting of him. I have one more I'd like to do in oils of Michael, but I most enjoy creating digital art to celebrate him. You can buy Michael Jackson Prints from this at the Fine Art America site. And there are lots of other wonderful artworks by other artists on that site available for purchase. I was blown away by some of the MJ art I looked at there. It's wonderful. So if you're an MJ fan be sure to check out what's available. Or maybe it will inspire you to do your own MJ-themed art.

Michael Jackson Ultimate Entertainer

This piece of Michael Jackson Art was inspired by this week's Entertainers Challenge at the Collage Obsession blog. You know how it is with me and Michael Jackson. :)

Michael Jackson Entertainer Digital Art

Ever the ultimate entertainer, and one of my favorite inspirations. Michael Jackson forever!

Listen the Music

Time for another challenge at the Three Muses blog, and this time the theme is a quote. So I decided to add to my collection of Michael Jackson Art for this challenge and create some digital art based on one of his quotes.

Listen to Michael Jackson Digital Art

Your music will never die, Michael.

I'm listening.

MJ Black or White Digital Art

Just a little Michael Jackson Art, inspired by his Black or White short film, and its epic "Panther Dance."

MJ Black or White Digital Art

I'm grateful that MJ can still inspire me...at a time when not much else does. Trying to get my art groove back since my mother's death has not been easy. But I'm still trying!
