Moonlight Serenade Collage

The Collage Obsession blog has a great challenge this week also, its theme is Reflection. So I created this Digital Collage that was inspired by their theme. It’s called Moonlight Serenade.

This was made using a photograph my mother took before she passed away in February. The photo was on her camera. I enhanced it just a bit, and then added the other elements that I wanted to appear in the collage. So I couldn’t have made this collage without my mother’s wonderful eye for a beautiful sunset.

Bay City Michigan Photos

The Hubs and I recently went to Bay City, Michigan for our anniversary. I took some Nature Photos and Flower Photos while we were there, so thought I’d share them here. Of course, I always manage to find some birds while on vacation too,  and I love birds, so I got one to add to my collection of Birds and Animal Photos too.

These were all taken at the State Park that is on Lake Huron. This is our third Great Lake we’ve visited now.  I usually take beach photos too, but the beach itself wasn’t as scenic as the others we’ve visited, so these were really the only photos I took on that day…they were on a little lagoon that was right at the entrance to the lake. That was really pretty at least!

Sky Leaf Redux

I’ve been playing with a bunch of my photographs this evening and having fun with digital editing. I decided to do a redux of a photo I posted previously called Sky Leaf.  It’s one of the first photos I ever took with my digital camera and I love it. But I knew I could make it even better. So I’m going to post the Before and After versions of the photo for you.

It’s really quite a difference, isn’t it? It is so much creative fun to see how many ways I can transform my own digital photos with editing. I am really having a ball with it. Even when I love a photo as it is, I am amazed at how much I can love the transformed version too.  :)

South Haven Sunset and Surf

The Hubs and I went away for the weekend recently, to celebrate our 26th wedding anniversary. My primary requisite for any trip is that we be somewhere near a large body of water, so South Haven, Michigan was our destination of choice to meet that criteria this year.  Lake Michigan is beautiful! I snapped a couple of pics that I thought were worth posting here. I so love a good sunset, so I hope you enjoy!

Water on Lily

We used to have a beautiful Day Lily in my front yard; it was one of my favorite trusty perennials. One year on a rainy summer day, I was out in the yard and saw the water on the leaves of the Lily and hurried to get my camera. It just looked so beautiful. Another photo from self-developed film and printed by me.

Wet Leaves

This was my first attempt at photographing water on leaves. It was just lightly raining when I took the photo, and the droplets looked so perfect atop the leaves. They just begged to be photographed, as do so many things in nature. Another photograph from self-developed film and printed by me.

Trunk Show

I love trying to capture texture in a photograph, especially one that’s black and white. This texture is from the oldest tree in front of my house. It’s really kind of fascinating to look at the bark and all its patterns and texture. If only it could talk. Another photograph from self-developed film and printed by me.

Icy Wire

I used to grow green beans quite a lot when I had my own garden. The Hubs put up this wire for the beans to grow up on. One winter I happened to notice some rather neat ice formations on the wire and dried up bean vines, so I grabbed my camera and snapped this photograph.  Another photo from self-developed film and printed by me.

Fuzzy Field

Nature photography is really something I am quite partial too.  There is so much beauty and inspiration to be found in nature, in my opinion. These wild weeds were found in what I call a fuzzy field as I drove to a friend’s house in the country one day. Just thought that they’d make a neat photo. Another photo from self-developed film and printed by me.

Saugatuck Sunset

On our trip to Saugatuck, Michigan, we were able to take a sunset cruise on the lovely Star of Saugatuck, an authentic steamwheeler.  It was one of my all time favorite trips that the Hubs and I have ever taken. There’s a saying, “it’s not about the number of breaths we take…but the moments that take our breath away.” This sunset cruise was one of those moments, and I’ll never forget it.

The first photo was taken just as we were leaving the Kalamazoo River out into Lake Michigan. The second photo was taken moments later, once we were fully on the lake. That sunset was magnificent!
