I’ve just started experimenting with making magnets from flat marbles…you know, those glass marbles you find in craft stores that are flat on the back? This is my first magnet made from one of these flat marbles.
I used a stamped image for the face on brown kraft paper. I added some pink highlights to the girl’s face for some color. I also stamped on the word, LOVE at the bottom, though it’s difficult to see that in the photo (I need to use darker ink next time, for sure). I glued the photo to the back of the marble with just a couple dots of Diamond Glaze. Then I wrapped the back edges with copper foil and soldered it, also soldering on a wire so that I could add the 2 clear crystal beads and one silver bead as a decorative accents. The final step was gluing on a magnet to the back so I can stick it on the frig.
I’ll be making more of these for sure. I think I’ll do some with vintage photos, and maybe even with pictures of my two grandkids. I bet my daughter would like that for Mother’s Day! It’s one of those fun and easy crafts to do. If you don’t know how to solder, you can omit that part and just add the magnets. You can use so many things for images…old photos, magazine pages, stationery, wrapping paper…so many possibilities.
