You Are Loved Mixed Media

I got a few projects going in the studio over the weekend, but this is the only one I managed to get finished. Another mixed media project with a heart theme. I couldn't help myself.

You Are Loved Mixed Media

I collaged a few types of scrapbook paper in the background, then added a few colors of acrylic paints...added some stenciling and stamping and the heart, then more stenciling and embellishing until it was complete.

Next week I'll have a painting to share that isn't mixed media. Can't wait to share it once it's finished!

Fairy Nicolette

I have a beautiful and fabulous niece named Nicci. Well, technically her name is Christina Nicole (she was named after me, because my given name is Christina), but she goes by Nicci. And Nicci's birthday is on Valentine's Day, just like my sister. How cool is that? And this year she said she would like for me to paint her a fairy for her birthday. Ask and ye shall receive, as they say. So please meet Nicolette, the fairy that I named after Nicci. :)

She was created primarily with Neocolor II crayons, but I also used some paint pens and some stamp ink and stencils too. Nicci is fond of purple, and even though it looks a little more pink in this photo, she really has a lot of purples too. And I was only too happy to create this little bit of magic for my sweet Nicci!

Tulips and Flutterbys

I've been so busy with school work this week that I keep running out of time to finish the painting that I finally completed in the studio last weekend. It's similar in style to my Whimsical Birds and Flowers painting that I did a couple of weeks ago. I am really enjoying the techniques I learned from the fabulous Brandi Dayton that I've used in these last couple of paintings! This one I'm just calling Tulips and Flutterbys. :)

Tulips and Flutterbys

Apparently I'm in the mood for Spring, no? I love tulips. I used to have so many of them in my yard. I need to plant some more. But I digress. This is a mixed media painting. I used acrylics, colored pencils, Neocolor II crayons, paint markers, and some ink to stencil the swirly in the background. I love how the little butterflies turned out--again, just a little touch of fun and whimsy.

I think I need to hang this in my kitchen so that something warm and cheery always greets me there in the morning. I may need to hang my other flower painting in this style in the kitchen too!
