It's What You Believe

This is a journal page from my Fairy Journal that I have tweaked digitally for a challenge at the Three Muses blog this week. The theme is Quote and Journal Page.

So this page has one of my own quotes I created for my Believe Fairy Journal, and the original drawing, plus some digital elements added for fun.

Man In the Mirror MJ Digital Art

Time for another challenge over at the Collage Obsession blog. The theme this week is "Man." We need to have "man" as our theme, or use the word, "man." So I decided to create some  Michael Jackson Art that went with that theme. And I came up with my Man In the Mirror digital art.

Man in the Mirror Michael Jackson Art

This photo is the work of one of my favorite photographers, Annie Leibovitz. She takes amazing photographs and I continue to be awed by her talent. She photographed Michael more than once, and the images (including this one, I believe) appeared in Vanity Fair magazine. And since Michael recorded the song, Man In the Mirror, I thought this photograph was the perfect subject for my digital collage. It is as much an homage to Annie as it is to Michael. It also includes sheet music from the actual song as prat of the design. I hope you like it.

A willow deeply scarred
Somebody's broken heart
And a washed out dream
(Washed out dream)
They follow the pattern of the wind ya' see
'Cause they got no place to be
That's why I'm starting with me.

I'm starting with the man in the mirror
I'm asking him to change his ways
And no message could have been any clearer
If you wanna make the world a better place
Take a look at yourself and then make a change...

Bird Silhouette Painting

I've always wanted to do a silhouette painting of a bird, so I thought I'd give it a shot yesterday when I was in my studio. I still had the Spring-thing in my head...so I created this Bird Silhouette painting.

Bird Silhouette Acrylic Painting

I used a 6" canvas for this that I painted with craft acrylics in the robins egg blue color. Then I created a template of a bird by drawing the bird shape on some cardstock and then cutting it out. I traced the template on the canvas and then painted it with black acrylic. (You could use a stencil if you have one.) Next I distressed the edges of the canvas with a combination of paint and Distress Ink. And I finished it off with a little matching satin flower, just to give it a sense of depth.

This is a very simple, crafty project and I think anyone could do it. I love how it turned out. I may do some more birds in the future because I had such fun with this.

Little Bird Gift Bag

I should be thinking about Valentine's Day, for crafty purposes, but when I went into my studio yesterday (which is outside, and I had to walk in the 20+ degree weather to get to it) I was thinking Spring! So I created some spring projects to share. This one is my Little Bird Gift Bag.

Little Bird Gift Bag Fabric Crafts

I started with a pre-made muslin gift bag. I stamped on a cute spring bird, along with the "imagine" text. And then I added a matching satin flower. I love this color of blue--very spring-like. These would make great little gift bags, or favor bags for a party. And they are so quick and easy to make too. Just something very simple, but elegant too. And really, they could be used any time of year, not just for Spring!

Michael Jackson Oil Painting

I'm revisiting this Oil Painting of Michael Jackson because it's another piece of my art that I've put in my Fine Art America gallery. :)

MJ in Shades Michael Jackson Art

This was my first ever oil painting of MJ. I've painted him more than once, but this is still my favorite painting of him. I have one more I'd like to do in oils of Michael, but I most enjoy creating digital art to celebrate him. You can buy Michael Jackson Prints from this at the Fine Art America site. And there are lots of other wonderful artworks by other artists on that site available for purchase. I was blown away by some of the MJ art I looked at there. It's wonderful. So if you're an MJ fan be sure to check out what's available. Or maybe it will inspire you to do your own MJ-themed art.

Sunflower Digital Art

I decided to start sharing and selling my art on Fine Art America's site. I've been a member of that site for awhile but have never sold anything on there before, so I thought I'd give it a try. People can order prints, art on canvas, greeting cards etc at really great quality and prices. I don't have a ton of art on there yet, but I did several sunflower art pieces. Here's on example.

Sunflower Digital Art

You can order Sunflower Prints from me or any artist you like. Feel free to visit my gallery, if you like too. Tina Grimes Fine Art at FAA. I hope to grow my gallery over time!
